Angela and Mark’s dreamy Isle of Skye elopement in Scotland encapsulates everything that makes our hearts sing about Scottish mountain elopement weddings. Ange and Mark have never been the traditional types, so running away to have an adventure on the breathtakingly beautiful Isle of Skye felt like the perfect way to exchange their vows and to celebrate their love. Angela’s parents had chosen an elopement wedding themselves, so they were on board with the idea from the start, and Mark’s family were super-supportive of their plan too.

Read on to hear the full story of their elopement adventure. . .

Their elopement day began peacefully at their cute cottage in Portree, one of the most well-located and vibrant spots to base yourself on the Isle of Skye. Angela and Mark wrote out their vows before getting ready for their ceremony together, helping each other into their wedding clothes. We love the atmosphere of quiet intimacy created when couples choose to get ready together on their wedding day.

Angela went for a relaxed, bohemian look for their wedding day. Her gorgeous bouquet and flower crown were, made by amazing local florist Wild Gorse, turned her into an absolute goddess. She looked so stunning in the soft morning light.

We made our way to their epic mountain wedding ceremony location, which involved a bit of a hike, but Angela & Mark were totally down for it! There we met Skye-based humanist celebrant, Rona Burstow. Rona is always bursting with joy and enthusiasm and brings such a beautiful positive energy to the ceremonies that she conducts.

The Isle of Skye is renowned for its beauty, which does mean that it can get quite busy with tourists. We helped Angela and Mark find an elopement ceremony location that was tucked away from the crowds and with the most incredible view. As photographers we have witnessed so many ceremonies, but Angela and Mark’s elopement ceremony was one of the most personal and moving that we’ve ever had the honour of being a part of. We shed a tear behind our cameras!

After the ceremony, as the sun dropped behind the Cuillin mountains, we made our way to a remote location by the sea. There we watched the sunset, accompanied by the sound of the waves and the seabirds. We love how relaxed elopement wedding days can be, with no rigid schedule or timetable there is plenty of time for the couple to enjoy each other’s company and the amazing Scottish landscape!

As dusk fell, we headed to The Bosville Hotel’s cool, cosy bar for some drinks next to a warm fire. Angela and Mark settled in to read the heartfelt and funny cards that friends and family had sent them, a lovely way to end an elopement wedding day. We left them both to enjoy their romantic meal in the Bosville’s award-winning restaurant, Dulce & Brose.

Kind words from Ange & Mark on their Isle of Skye elopement adventure:

We contacted Katy and Jim for our elopement photography and knew instantly we wanted them to capture our day. We could tell after speaking with them that not only would they do an amazing job, but they would be a wonderful, safe pair(s) of hands and totally understood what we had envisaged. They are complete professionals, so lovely and down to earth making us feel comfortable, and the work speaks for itself! We couldn’t be happier with how the whole day went and of course how our photos turned out. We consider Katy and Jim friends and would have no hesitation in recommending them to absolutely anyone.”
