Hannah and John wanted their wedding day to be relaxed, fun and set against the Scottish Highland landscape they’d known and loved since childhood. After initially considering a large-scale wedding, they opted for an elopement – witnessed by their closest family. They just knew it felt right for them. The day began with some peaceful preparations, in a characterful old hunting lodge (Shieldaig Lodge Hotel). Then Hannah and John made their way to a serene loch-side location for a highly personal and heartfelt humanist ceremony, with vows they had written themselves.
After a post-ceremony champagne toast, we made our way back up the valley. The sun burst through the slate-grey clouds, bathing the landscape in the most incredible golden evening light—Scotland never fails to take our breath away! The evening ended back at Shieldaig Lodge with an intimate dinner and much fine whiskey, and as darkness closed in the call of oyster catchers echoed across the water. It was such an honour to spend this special day with Hannah and John, and to capture their love and laughter. We wish them all the best with their future adventures.
