Adriana and Neil’s romantic Scottish Highland wedding at Achnagairn Castle felt like something out of a fairy-tale. The castle is set amidst a beautiful 30 acre estate of rolling fields and woodland, and its cosy wood panelled interior with magical vaulted ballroom provided the perfect backdrop for their special celebration. Their vision for their day was something rustic, elegant and filled with nature, and their aim was to make their family and friends feel as loved as they’d made Neil and Adriana feel over the years. We definitely felt an incredible sense of that love and emotional throughout their day.
Their wedding day dawned crisp and bright, with a slight chill and the rich smell of leaves in the November air. We arrived to find Julia and her wonderful team from Wild Gorse decorating the ballroom with cascades of autumn foliage. On the kitchen table lay a personalised ‘newspaper’ created by Adriana to celebrate their wedding day. It told the story of their relationship and thanked all the people who had given them love and support over the years—such a unique and special touch.
Adriana, her mother and bridesmaids began their morning in the master bedroom – exchanging presents and sipping champagne as they got ready for the day. Neil and his groomsmen donned their kilts next door, taking the odd swig of something a little stronger… When the moment came for Adriana to walk down the aisle, it was her mother who gave her away. Their wedding ceremony was by turns joyful, heartfelt and moving (we may have shed the odd tear behind our cameras…)
After the ceremony, we sneaked Adriana and Neil away into the woods to spend a quiet moment together. We always really encourage our couples to take a little bit of time-out during the whirlwind of their wedding day so that they can pause and take it all in.
Then it was back to the party. A delicious, seasonal meal was served-up by the Achnagairn team, and as the wine flowed the evening was soon in full swing. Their awesome band, Velvet Noir got everyone dancing with some irresistible tunes, and the party continued late into the night. The evening climaxed with a sparkler exit—it was a truly magical finale to a truly special day. We feel so lucky to have been part of it.
