Lauren & Mat’s elopement in the Cairngorms National Park, in the Scottish Highlands, was breathtakingly beautiful in its simplicity. Their stunning, eco-friendly wedding day shows that you don’t need much to get married—just a characterful wooden cabin in the woods, a peaceful ceremony location by a loch…and, above all, each other!
Back in November, these guys travelled up from England to elope in Scotland in a quiet corner of the Cairngorms. They rented a cosy, off-grid forest cabin: the perfect way to get away from it all, to tune into nature–and to focus on each other.
Their day began peacefully–with a cup of coffee and an outdoor shower–before they began to get ready for their elopement ceremony. Lauren chose a beautiful ‘preloved’ wedding dress that she had altered to perfectly fit her, and–being someone who does not usually wear make-up–she also chose to go make-up free for her wedding day, she just let her natural radiance shine through.
After a first-look in the woods, we made our way through the lush forest to their outdoor wedding ceremony location on the shores of Loch Garten. The rain fell softly through the trees, and the wind stirred the branches, as Lauren and Mat exchanged their vows and tied the knot in a traditional Scottish hand-fasting ceremony.
We spent the afternoon together, exploring the surrounding landscape and another tranquil loch, Loch-an-Eilein, before we left Lauren and Mat for to enjoy a romantic dinner at local award-wining restaurant.
Their day included everything that we love about adventure elopements: breath-taking scenery, love and laughter, and that sense of being close to nature. It was perfect!
